For this reason, we are pleased to offer a variety of treatments, which can be customized towards your specific needs, including:

Swedish (Therapeutic) Massage

Characterized by gentle, yet firm pressure, Swedish massage is used to relax the body, reduce muscle tension and gradually break up knots or adhesions within the muscles. The benefits of Swedish massage include improved circulation and flexibility while decreasing stress hormones and toxins within the body. In summary, Swedish massage is effective for relieving stress, managing pain and promoting relaxation, making it one of our most popular treatments.

Pre/Post Natal Massage

Are you experiencing pain, swelling, headaches, or stress during your pregnancy? If so, massage therapy can benefit you at any trimester of pregnancy. Our massage therapists specialize in prenatal massage. We can use a pregnancy bolster to comfortably assist with lying face down, or we can position you on your side. Your comfort and safety are of the upmost importance. Whether its for relaxation or therapeutic purposes, massage can help.

Sport/Performance Massage

Sport or performance massage is a deeper, yet stimulating massage. It is effectively applied the day of an event or competition to enhance performance. Benefits include an effective preparation and reduced recovery time following the event. Specifically, performance massages may prevent injuries, promote flexibility and enhance the body for optimal performance. The massage will be specific to the sport of choice. At Prota Clinic we recommend that you supplement performance massages into your wellness routine.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage focuses on treating the deeper layers of muscles within the body. This form of massage is especially effective for treating muscular tension, repetitive strain injuries (carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, etc) and trigger points. What exactly are trigger points? They are hyper-sensitive knots within the muscles commonly located in the neck, back and arms. Most often, trigger points are caused by muscle imbalances, repetitive tasks and/or improper posture. Trigger points are extremely tender spots which radiate pain to other areas of the body. Our experienced massage therapists locate and release trigger points as your comfort is our primary goal. In addition, strengthening and/or stretching exercises may be recommended to prevent the stubborn trigger points from reappearing.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage can help relax the body’s muscles and soft tissues, alleviate pain, improve circulation and help rid the body of toxins. The hot stones have a sedative effect that can relieve chronic pain, reduce stress and promote deep relaxation.
There is an ever-growing body of research that confirms the positive effects of massage on the cardiovascular, lymphatic, integumentary (including fascia), musculoskeletal, endocrine, nervous and digestive systems. The addition of hot stones to massage therapy helps to increase these benefits.
Because of the moderate pressure and the heat produced by the stones, hot stone massage may help relieve the symptoms from painful conditions such as fibromyalgia, arthritis or other chronic pain.
Warning – There are some circumstances where it should be avoided:
• a bleeding disorder/take blood thinners/a low platelet count
• uncontrolled high blood pressure
• a history of blood clots
• had recent surgery
• a fracture or severe osteoporosis
• diabetes
• are pregnant

On occasion, deep tissue massage may feel uncomfortable. However, our massage therapists want you to enjoy your treatment experience and, therefore, your feedback is encouraged to ensure each treatment is comfortable and your needs are satisfied.

Myo-Fascial Release

Fascia is described as the connective tissue which lays just beneath the skin, surrounding the muscles throughout the body. Fascia is unique as it is connected from head to toe in the human body. It is extremely sensitive and due to its vast attachments throughout the body, troublesome spots can refer pain to other areas of the body. Fascia can be strained by stress, poor posture and inadequate flexibility. Our massage therapists work with you to locate restrictions within the fascia. Once located, gentle pressure and stretching are utilized to ensure the fascia is subtle and moves smoothly.

Injury Rehabilitation/Prevention

Prota Clinic understands that work, exercise and even daily activities can create stress and strain on the body. Additionally, repetitive motions and stagnant positions over prolonged periods of time may cause muscle imbalances and tension resulting in injuries. Creating a wellness program with a Prota Clinic massage therapist is the first step to reduce the likelihood of sprains and/or strains. Speak with one of our massage therapists regarding customized treatment programs and lifestyle strategies to live a well-balanced lifestyle and reduce the risk of injury.

What to Expect?

Your first massage therapy visit will consist of a brief consultation to review medical history, previous injuries and your goals. Please let your massage therapist know about any injuries or conditions which may affect the massage. Our massage therapists will create an individualized treatment plan which will be reviewed with you to ensure you are comfortable and confident with the treatment.

At Prota Clinic our registered massage therapists are committed to ensuring each treatment meets your needs. Therefore, we always encourage feedback to ensure you receive the most effective massage possible.

Following each treatment you will be reassessed your massage therapist and the treatment plan will be reviewed. If you are interested, your massage therapist will provide home exercises and stretches to enhance the success of your treatment.
